I was just wondering what you guys use to clean the crud off your stators at some point there must have been some water intrusion due to a bad seal because it looks pretty nasty I was thinking Mabey some electronics cleaner but.... not sure thanks for the help

I would just replace it...the stator could be cleaned up, but that pickup is the old style and once they get like this its only a matter of time before it snaps off.

OK thanks but... would you buy a new one or used oem? I've only seen new ones on the sbt website and there pricy around 220 I believe do you happen to have a good working new style stator?

I think Minnetonka is referring to replacing the ignition pickup with one that isn't corroded? As far as washing stuff like that off, I usually use a paintbrush in my parts washer (diesel fuel as low-buck solvent, lol) and chase that with compressed air to dry everything and blow off the remainder.

The Seadoo manual suggest painting a new uncoated flywheel using GUN KOTE and baking it in an oven at a specific temperature for proper cure.

Correct...they can break when not corroded, but its MUCH more likely to fail when they are corroded. They were updated in 97 on most models but not all. The dirty stator isnt that big of a deal but you could find the whole assembly for about $100 and be mint.

I used to use the old style b/c the updated ones are worth more until I had 2 on my personal machines fail within 2 weeks of each other. One happened idling in a no wake zone, the other was a super hard jump landing. Replacing them with the motor in the hull is not alot of fun.

I'd find out why it's so rusted too. It should be sealed in the engine.
