Hey all,

My starter is fried on my 97 GTX. The solenoid just clicks when I hit the start button, the starter never attempts to engage. I pulled it out and hooked it up to a larger marine battery to test it and got nothing. Took it to autozone to try and have them test it and got the same result. I pulled it apart to try and see what the problem was and all these black bead looking things fell out of it.

I'd like to just buy a new one and not mess around with rebuilding it. What is the best place to get one? Thanks.

You can get a good used OEM from 99spxxx or minnetonka4me.

Or others have tried DBelectrical.

Better go OEM VS chinese knock off to have to do it again.

Why? It's real easy to rebuild and cost less than a quarter of a new one.

Thanks. I was initially skeptical about DB Electrical because I saw that it was also listed on Amazon so I assumed it was junk.

I'll PM the people you suggested and look into the DB electrical one as well.

Thanks.

Your first post bothers me, those black bead things that fell out are probably bearings, a normal rebuild won't fix that. Get a good used one.
