The boat....

It's a '96 Sportster. It has a single 720 engine in it. It has a top speed of around 43 MPH with a couple people in it, and it's "Cruse" speed is right around 32~35 mph. Even though it has a single engine, it still moves pretty good. I have no problems pulling a tube around, or a wake board. (never tried skis) The nice thing about the single engine is that it doesn't use much fuel, and the boat is very light. (Dry weight is under 1000 Lbs) That helps with the top speed. The boat received a complete rebuild, and make-over 2 years ago. The engine is fresh, carbs rebuilt, fuel select valve cleaned, pump rebuilt, new battery, New Skat-Trak "Swirl" impeller, and drive seals replaced. Last season I replaced the wear ring. On top of all that, I buffed the hull, replaced all the upholstery, gave it some custom billet parts, put all new graphics on it, New Bimini Top, and new Hydro-Turf.

The trailer recived new lights and tires 2 years ago (from the origianl rebuild) and last year, I installed new bearings in the hubs.

The stock gauge SUCKED, so I added a Tach, and I installed a multi-gauge from an XP in it's hood. (and there is a new float in the sender) And it will come with a Poppy Cover.

Here's some links to the rebuild threads I made.

So... no, it's not a new boat... but mechanically, it is.

My asking price is $4,000 OBO. I'm not interested in a trade (unless you have an Islandia) so don't even bother asking.

If you have questions, or an offer... please PM me

The boat is at zip 15636.

I'm new to to forum and haven't reached the post quota to PM. Would you mind sending me your email to talk more about the boat?

For now... please ask questions on this thread.

I see you are in New Orleans. Do you get up to Pittsburgh often?

I grew up in Pittsburgh and my parents still live there

How many hours are on the new engine?
Do you have a clear title? In your possession?
How do you store the boat through the winter?
What sound system components do you have installed?
Is the throttle smooth from takeoff?
Is the trailer galvanized? lights work?
Any damage to the boat interior or exterior?

Hi David,

Thanks for understanding, and posting up. Since you were a new member, I just wanted to make sure you weren't a "Bot" making a post to start spam.

1) I would say there is around 50 to 70 hr's on the new engine. I have other water toys, so it doesn't always go out to the water with me.

2) Yes. I have titles for both the boat, and the trailer in my name.

3) The boat is in a nice warm garage. AND, I still winterize it.

4) There is no radio in the boat. I always thought about putting one in, but the boat is too loud to enjoy it.

5) Yes... the boat runs as it should.

6) The trailer is painted, and all the lights work. (they were new 2 years ago) and, as I recall... I put LED lights on that trailer.

7) There isn't any major damage, or hull repairs. BUT, there are a few chips and gouges in the gel-coat. All the damage is superficial, and can be patched with a gel kit. The upholstery is in good shape. It was all replaced 2 years ago. There are no rips in it.

The boat is EXTREMELY clean for a 15 year old boat... but it's not perfect. If you look at the rebuild thread posted above... you will see what I started with. If you buy it... you won't regret it. It needs nothing to run. (other than to be de-winterized)

I have the highest reputation on this board, and if the boat had problems... I would not be selling it here.

Upgrading to a bigger boat?

Yep.

I have a second kid on the way (any time now actually) So, the wife won't want to take a new born on a little boat like this. I wasn't going to sell it... but I figure it would sit all summer since I have other toys.

I'm sad to see it go... but the wife gave me the green light to get an Islandia !!!!!!!!! :driving:

I figure I will sell this one now... and start looking for an Islandia project.

So... are you ready to take on an Islandia interior??

The wife just told me the contractions are 8 min apart. They could stop... or we may be heading to the hospital in a couple hours. :willy_nilly:

I would be 100% confident buying a boat or PWC from the good Doctor... he has an infinite wealth of knowledge on Sea Doo's (among other brands/toys), so we all know this boat has been in GREAT hands

Thanks for the support.

AND... I'm not streaching the truth. Check this thread. It's sorted by the members by reputation. (if it isn't, click on reputation, and I should be on top)

No prob., I have already redone a couple Utopias. You ought to like that Islandia, there was one on CL a while back, they are decked out! Shower, sink, swim platform, seats that covert to sundecks....
