over the spring, i did several changes to the boat...

replaced all the fuel lines
added the carb primers
replaced the plugs
redid the interior

yesterday i take it to the lake and its leaking from the top exhaust elbow lower plug weld on both sides. so just to get on with the season, i come home and jb weld it. today i take it to the lake and the leaks are fixed, but its running super rich smoking up the place...

i check the oil injector pump alignment marks and they are good, didnt touch the carb adjustments all winter, so i doubt both changed... yet the new plugs are oily upon inspection.

i did replace the vacuum hose on the carbs with the extra hose from the primer kit....

it didnt run rich last yr, so i know it something ive done, i just have no idea what...

any thoughts would be great!

tks

sam

how long did you run for ? crank seal leaking over winter ? poss eng full of oil and will need a good run to clean out .search post lot of info on this web site about problem .

anyone

i let it run for about 10 minutes..

know if bad gas would cause this? that what the local mechanic says....

tks

keep run'n it Sam, it'll clear out. Have a few extra spark plugs with ya, just in case.

Old fuel doesn't help, and it may make it run rough, like it's rich.

In the 10 miuntes... did you let it idle around, or did you run it hard. You will need to throttle ti to blow out the oil that leaked past the seals over the winter. Also, top off the fuel tank with fresh fuel, and use Stay-Bil to try to help the old and new fuel to mix... and it will allow any water in the tank to mix in, and be purged out.

The first trip out this year... my boat left a big enough smoke cloud that I couldn't see the docks or ramp, but after a full throttle run... all the extra oil blew out, and it was fine.

Hehe dont tell Al Gore that:hat:

and this year with my 97 speedster, it was really bad, I had to start one engine, taxi out past the launch, then after i was far out, start the other engine. You shouldve seen the cloud of smoke down the lake. But im noticing this year that the engines stall out when slowly increasing the thottle, if it was sudden, its fine. I think the needles are sticking in the carbs. Looks like this winter I'll be rebuilding carbs... :ack:
