I was wondering about the formula 6 gallons/per 20 ounces. Okay thanks, I am taking note of this. And, my glass is always almost full with the exception of yesterday when the shop owner called. Yes life is good. I love these tips from everyone. Greatly apreciated.

Okay great I will buy a pair of pinch pliers. I don't think I kept my college roach clips with the attached feathers/kidding. Either way I need them. Thank you.

1) I'm fine with premixing, its EASY, i've done it for 5 years on every ski I own.
2) ratio rite cup sux !!!! no lid !!!
3) because the RRcup sux, go to a West marine, and get their premix container. No cup ! $5.

take's all the guesswork out, seals with a lid, no stinky oil smell in your trunk, no sticky residue from the cup...

I used the ratio rite cup once, and threw it away immediately...

I was just about to say the same thing! Lol ratio rite is awful! No sealing lid, just a snap on lid. It'll leak oil all over the place if it falls over. I have three like yours for my dirtbikes. I dont remember where i bought them. Wal mart i think, in the boat section.

The first thing most people do when the warranty expires on these $60,000 bass boats you see is to bypass the oil injection and premix the oil and gas, and for good reason. If that pump goes out and the warning buzzer doesnt go off. Bam!! $20,000+ motor GONE!!! Premix is annoying kinda, but peace of mind. A little more expensive but you dont have to worry about it. Oil injection adjusts the amount of oil based on the amount of throttle you're giving it so less throttle, less oil. Premix, obviously, same amount of oil always. Just to explain why premix is a little more expensive.

Guess we have 2 different thought processes. I would carry a gallon of oil and the cup and measure what I needed, especially if it was for a whole weekend. You would have to have 4 of your little containers on hand filled to the top and make sure to keep checking how much oil you poured out of it depending on how many gallons of gas you filled up with.

You don't need to pinch off the oil lines on a new motor. That is typically for older motors with worn crank/rotary valve seals. Regarding the premix, use a 40 to 1 gas to oil ratio. It is no big deal premixing. If you don't like it, you can always switch back in the future Ask for all the injection parts they remove just incase you change your mind. Get that thing running right and go play!!

I dont normally keep oil in it. I meant when the ratio rite is empty the remaining oil on the side can run out and make a mess. I use mine the same way as you. Just cleaner. We used ratio rite for years and years back in the day.

You need to run a 40:1 premix 40 part gas to one part oil.

A gallon of gas is 128 oz. so 6 gallons of gas is 768 oz. 768/40=19.2 ounce which I round off to 20 oz.

I still don't understand how the crank failed so quick and they blamed it on the oil system. The top end should have gone first especially with low hours. I know a lot of factors can figure in to engine life but I think she has been through the ringer with this shop. This is a dual carb ski, right. Did they get those properly cleaned and in sync? I understand your position but I would have a hard time buying into any line they fed me at this point.
The oil injection on seadoos is very reliable and to omit it on a new engine makes no sense to me. Pouring a gallon of oil into the injection tank whenever it gets low is so simple and easy that I can't get the logic of removing it. She will have a fresh motor with new injection lines. Have them grease the oil cable and replace the supply, return lines and the filter and it's all good for another 10+ years of service. I know everybody has a different opinion and that peace of mind theory for premix but if I had to go through that, I would sell mine. Just ask them to keep the oil system in tact. Removing it is not fixing anything.

Thanks Bell99man.

I feel the same way you do and I know nothing about engines. To be honest I paid more for this Sea Doo after a very through search. It ran great on the trial run and it had a newer engine with less than 10 hours. The shop agreed it was a new engine. I wanted to make sure they knew I wasn't totally ignorant in case they tried to put the screws to me being a girl dropping it off for repair. This has been an embarassing nightmare. But again, I know nothing about engines. These guys seem to be honest. I just dont' think they know what they are doing. My repair bills are $1002.00. We all agree they are not getting paid a dime until this thing is fixed on their last try when they locked my motor up. Now, I feel like I own a piece of crap Sea Doo that I wouldn't have ever looked at if it didn't have the original gas whereas you didn't have to pre-mix. I'M SO DESPERATE I EVEN PLEADED FOR SOMEONE TO CALL THE SHOP SO THEY CAN INQUIRE ABOUT WHAT THE HECK THEY ARE DOING? AND, I REALIZE THIS IS NOT ANYONE'S PROBLEM BUT MY OWN. WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP IF MY LAUNCH FAILS AGAIN. I FEEL LIKE ASKING THEM TO BUY MY SEA DOO AND START ALL OVER. I'LL BE POSTING ON TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 3.

My repair bills have been paid in full. They have agreed to work on it until it's fixed. Sea Doo will be leaving their shop for good after Friday's launch. And, then I'll have to find someone in my vicinity who knows what the hell they are doing. This is so flipin frustrating. My Sea Doo is a 1996. It's looks good. However, how much money do I sink into this things before junking it... It's gets to the point of being ridiculous at some point.

I hear ya... At this point they've messed things up so bad I want them to purchase my Sea Doo and then I'd settle for a partial refund. And, or have the owner trade me Sea Doo's assuming his is operable and around the same make/model?

It's not the Sea Doo I bought now that it's got a locked up engine. THESE GUYS SHOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT LOCKS ENGINES BEFORE THEY TOOK IT FOR ANOTHER TRIAL RUN... (MAYBE I'M WRONG ABOUT THAT?). I will get back in the saddle and figure this out somehow. THEY ARE TAKING OWNERSHIP (SO FAR) HAVING REALLY SCREWED THINGS UP. THE SHOP OWNER OFFERED ME HIS SEA DOO TO USE UNTIL MINE IS FIXED. I DECLINED WHILE THE OFFER IS APPRECIATED. I MAY BE SINGING ANOTHER TUNE ON FRIDAY NIGHT IF THINGS GO BAD. IT'S HARD TO THINK POSITIVE AT THIS POINT.

IN THE END, MY FAMILY IS HEALTHY AND WE ALL HAVE AIR TO BREATHE. I'LL KEEP EVERYONE POSTED.... THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT SLOTCSX. THIS SITE KEEPS ME GOING...

launch it and keep your fingers crossed, i'm actually impressed that they were/are willing to go this far to be honest.

I'm guessing the dealership will be having a meeting soon with the staff deciding on whether or not to ever sell a used jet ski again :)

once you pass a water test or eve before, its time to find a new mechanic, local, competent.

The shop did not sell me this Sea Doo. And, yes they are admitting they feel responsible that it's been problem after problem. We are talking 4 and 5 launches when I get the call saying it's running perfect and then I launch to find same problem of bogging, new problem with Water and ending with the latest call that Sea Doo was again running perfect and no water problem when engine locked up.

Have you heard the term "Breaking Crazy". Well that would be me at this point. The drill has been... I pick it up a little before the 5:00 bell on Friday. I immediate launch my Sea Doo. I get to see the disappointment in my daughters face (now on 5 occasions) when the darn thing is not fixed. I get up on Saturday morning, drive into town and repeat the drill which is embarassing for all at this point.

In the end I'm grateful if they give me a refund. However, I'm left with a Sea Doo that has multiple problems should my launch be considered unsuccessful. I'll keep everyone posted. The last time I launched it and it didn't work... I screamed so loud I think the fish left the area. On a positive note, it was the first absolutely beautiful weekend of the year this past weekend. fun was had Sea doo or no Sea Doo.

Thanks!

Yes, I will find another dealership.

After this many try's with no satisfaction, can you tell us the name of the shop and help future owners the hassle. If it was only a one time mistake I'd not ask,but if they can't handle a 720 carb motor god help someone with a newer model !!!!!

I've mentioned the shop's name & owner's name on an earlier thread (out of anger to be honest). Let me give them, this last benefit of the doubt. Maybe (I doubt it) they have called in the calvery for some help to avoid giving me a full refund and to save themselves a lot of embarassment. You have my word I will post all of this information enabling every forum reader to stear clear of these folks if things end bad.

I am more than happy to send you a PM with this information right away. I would never want a Sea Doo owner to experience what I have.

Thanks so much!

Good idea. I wouldn't wish this saga on anyone much less a new Sea Doo owner. And, I'm no push over. Otherwise I doubt they would be offering a full refund. We will see on Friday?

Thank you Dustindu4!

On the bright side, your daughter at least learned that everything in life doesn't work out. Valuable lesson that most kids don't get to learn these days until they move out into the real world in their late twenties and don't know how to handle it. Lol Your experience is the story of my life. That's why I just do everything myself. I could buy a brand new sea doo and it would break the first time out probably.....

very true, valuable lesson

I couldn't agree more Pointhunter75. These kids are spoiled, mine included when it comes to a lot of things. I'm counting my blessings that I didn't buy a newer model whereas the same problems could have come up. My initial investment could have been alot worse than $3300.00.

I would love to video this next launch for all of you who have been so supportive. This site should be humerous at times, disheartening at times and hopefully successful in the end. If I can get one of the teenagers to video the launch I will. You may want to cover your ears if all goes bad/lol.

I've got some ideas if the launch goes bad. I will use the Sea doo as a floating cooler icing beers on each side of the saddle. We can pull it behind the boat and the kids can pretend they are riding one of those bananas in Florida. We can use the seat as a boogie board. I'm sure there are lots of other ideas before finding a reputable mechanic.

Staying positive... Thanks !!
