Shaft protector

I am installing new shaft protectors, does the slot in the protector face up toward the hull or down away from the boat when installed?

There is a notch that sticks out where it comes out of the hull. That notch goes down. Clean it out well so it fits into the hull
Remember to put some right stuff gasket material on the top where it goes through the hull.

I recommend throwing them away! they do nothing but create problems with cavitation.
