RESTO SeadooDAN's 96 XP build thread

I spent a few hours today making plates to perform a pressure test. These are modeled after the kit Seadoo has, as well as the ones a member on here sells. I ordered some .25" 6061 aluminum plate off eBay (for cheap I might add), fired up the bandsaw and had this:

I still need to drill and tap for the fittings to pressurize the motor. My OCD wants to spend some more time finishing off the rough edges, but these will work just fine for now. Time to see how bad this motor leaks! LOL

So I've had an idea to mesh a GSX hood with a single gauge SP hood to get an info center on an XP. Now that I have the parts, I couldn't wait to start on this Productive? Not really. Fun? Absolutely.

Time to mesh the 2 together!

Whoa cowboy. There's a spot by the lanyard for the multi gauge

Too late.

I really need to educate myself on how best to bond all this together, so the hood will get put on hold for a while. Not to mention all the other skis that are much further along...

Here's where I'm at currently.

I have never blocked off the RAVE valves for pressure testing. With new diaphragms they have always held 8psi.

Sorry to get off topic, where can I find a billet fuel selector block off plate like that? Anyone making them?

He designed and built it the other day. Yeah it came out nice. Hopefully he will print us a few extras.....

I got the motor assembled, pressure tested and painted:

And dropped it in the ski this morning.

The motor in the ski is a huge motivator, especially considering I'm shooting to water test it Friday before some friends come in town. I also have the carbs rebuilt and ready to throw on, assuming pop off checks out like it should.
