I finally determed the MPEM is bad, so now trying to confirm what replacement MPEM module will work for my
2002 GTX 4 Tech (HP 155). This is not a supercharger model.
The part number on the top of the unit is 27800 1724 and
another P/N stamped on the side, which is 020780042.
When I check the parts catalog for the year and model the MPEM P/N is 278002043 (replaces 278001753).

I found a MPEM for a 2003 Seadoo (185HP) Manufacturer Part Number: 278001724. Same P/N as on the original unit, but different year and HP (155HP verses 185HP). However, the replacement MPEM p/n 278001724, which I found, differs for the parts catalog p/n 278002043.

Also, the unit will come with the key (programmed tether).
Is the same key (programmed tether) required for both the MPEM and the ECU or just the MPEM?
What is the key programmed for the MPEM and/or ECU?

Has anyone swapped modules with success?

Do you know how I can find out if a MPEM for a 2003 Seadoo GTX 4TEC (185HP) will work in a 2002 GTX 4TEC (155HP)? The P/N is the same but the year and HP (155HP verses 185HP) is different.

If the MPEM part numbers are the same then it will work. The ECU manages the engine. The ECU part numbers would not be the same because of the different horsepower.

Thanks for all the help. I just hope this fixes the 5 amp blown fuse issue. I read about replacing the diode but this MPEM is a 2002 model and is not the same. I hope it is not the ECU module that is bad. Well I will try the MPEM and hope it works. Thanks again.

The 5A blown fuse problem is normally an ECU problem, not an MPEM problem. I have a used ECU and MPEM from an 02 GTX 4tec. $350 for the ECU and $250 for the MPEM. I can program new or used keys, normal or rental, if you like. I can also test yours for free first, just pay the shipping both ways. PM me or email directly at ohiopowersports@woh.rr.com if interested. My used ECUs usually sell quickly.

You can actually use lots of different MPEMs from 4tecs, they are all the same but really are just a power distribution center and accessory module with a fuse panel and don't normally fail.
