Sea Doo Challenger stock or AM Impeller?

Hello,

I have a 96 Challenger with a single 800cc engine. I did not want to own a twin engine boat due to the increased expense to care for 2 engines, 2 impellers, 2 pumps...etc. Unfortunately, the single engine is great in the SPX and XP, but underpowered for the weight of the boat. It takes off very slow and top end is around 35-40MPH according to the dream meter. So my question is I am in the process of servicing the impeller and noticed some damage. Is it worth it to drop the $225.00 for the Solas Prop or another or just repair and polish the stock. I am not expecting a huge gain like on a watercraft, but would I get anything. I am looking for a better take off and do not want to lose too much top end. What A/M props are recommened are they worth it? I believe stock is 11/25. Solas has a 13/21 and a 14/23.

I would change the wear ring and get a stock impeller from SBT, for about 25.00 exchange. Go to their site and check it out. That isn't a normal speed for that boat. What is the compression? It ideally should be 150psi.

Thanks for the reply,

I just had a SBT engine installed. What top speed should I expect? How should the take off be? It is pretty slow planning.

In my opinion, a Skat-Trak swirl impeller is only impeller worth putting on that boat. It will be night and day difference in take off. Especially when you have other people in the boat. It shouldn't affect the top speed much as you are already losing top speed due to the damaged impeller. Just by fixing your stock impeller you will gain top speed and acceleration.

Thank you for you input. There are a couple different pitches. Can you help me determine which one is best?

Thank you,
