Anyone had any issues with the sbt kits? I assumed the diaphragms were OEM with the red dot and all. It appears they are not as I used one on my pto carb and it seems to hold my needle open and flood that cylinder. If I put the OEM one in that and switch the sbt to other carb the mag then floods. Anyone had this issue?

I've asked them on a Facebook post once if their kits are OEM and they said no but made to OEM specs. I didn't buy them.
I got OEM kits plus N&S from Parkeryamaha.com

Go real OEM.

I've heard nothing particularly good about their parts... I've personally had issues with parts from them, the most recent of which was a throttle position sensor. OEM one lasted years. SBT one lasted one.

Hey guys,
again, it seems as it comes down to personal opinion... I went local to a dealer for OEM rebuild kits and they were upwards of $60 a piece, and I got mine for like $35 a piece from SBT, and there's a guy on here, Waterluvr , who is the carb guru, and he recommended the SBT ones to me because they are a little more pliable. I took his advice and carbs are AMAZING now, besides the fact that I need to turn the idle screw in a tiny bit more.

I recommend SBT as I find their kits and N/S withstand prolonged exposure to the concentration of ethanol in our fuel blends better than anything else available, my percentage of warranty has dropped to almost nothing after switching to their kits versus OEM Mikuni and I service well over 1K pwc carbs in any given year.

I find their Viton rubber material used on the needles to be the best thing going for not developing leaks in the first three years of use.

To each his own. I have seen and installed Two set of the SBT carb kits for a friend that had already bought them and they are NOT the same quality as the OEM kits. I will not use them and do not recommend them but that is just my opinion.
You can get the genuine Mikuni ones from amazon for the 787 & 951 for $36 & free shipping.

Check out the rebuild kits from osd. I got the kits with viton n/s. Oem mikuni parts in the kit. Use your original springs. No carb issues after my rebuild.

Yep, good diaphragms are important, I agree.

I have some Winderosa diaphragms that came in kits that seem pretty good looking them over they felt good but I kept the original Mikuni's b/c they were in good shape so Winderosa untested.

It's important the diaphragm doesn't hold the metering needle open of course, so carefully scrutinize the center nub of the diaphragm that contacts the metering arm, must be the same length (2~3mm or so?). If that center nub is any longer or shorter it's no-bueno wrong diaphragm. And the new ones must be soft and pliable like rose petals, not stiffer than the originals. Diaphragms stiffen with age and often thicker means stiffer with less free travel. Another no-bueno, IMO.

I just buy new carbs ;)

I appreciate this guys, b/c he helps keeps us going. There are so many carbs out of production nowadays I buy them up cheap when I can as from $15 swap meet shelf queens to corroded and stuck throttle shafts on ebay.

Have a look at what those reman mercruiser marine Quadrajet style carbs are going for these days folks, 10's of thousands of them were made yet they want a small fortune for them!

Do I rebuild them? You bet your ___ on it. :)
