Rolled my PWC last night and tried to stay on throttle while upside down to ride out of it...I obviously took on water because it wasn't floating in the lake like normal and would not start. I was towed back to my shore station where its been over night now. Is there any hope of this thing starting or should I get it to the shop immediately?

Additionally, I pulled the drain plugs once out of the water and let it drain, tried again to start but nothing....

Welcome to the forum. Your engine probably injested some water. You need to get it out. Pull the spark plugs, ground the caps and then hit the starter for a few seconds. It water shoots out, that was your problem. After all the water seems to be out, fog the engine, put the plugs back in, then start the engine. If doing it on a hase, don't run it for more than 5 minutes at a time. And be sure you use the right technique for running on a hose. Start engine, turn on water. After about 5 minutes, turn off hose, then turn off engine. Good luck.

I'm not sure I'd go a full 5 min, but the rest is sound. I usually replace the plugs too if it sucks in water. I notice a 500-1000 RPM hit if the plugs are bad on mine.

one thing i'll add, do it NOW !!!

mistake #1, roll over,
mistake #2, letting it sit overnight, the time to ACT was last night

if you wait, even a day or two, or certainly if you wait till the weekend, then you better hope your engine was bitten by a zombie or something and can run after death, otherwise, you'll be shopping for some expensive parts.

(not quite sure how zombies make other zombies.. sorry.. do they bite you ?)

I agree with the others. Lower it into the water while on the hoist then remove the plugs and crank it over until no water comes out of the plug holes. Fog it then start it and RUN IT on the lake for about 15-20 minutes while riding hard and fast every so often. This helps to dry the inside. DO IT ASAP.

Remember tho, crank it for only about 5 seconds at a time then let the starter cool for about 30 seconds or so then crank it again.
It has happen to most of us for one reason or another.

even upside down I find it rare a GTX would take in water though. 2 strokes actually can also run in any position. I can throttle out of a roll on my XP, but it does, sadly, often, take in water :(

#1: yep... just fall off. Less damage will be done. Right now you are assuming that you only sucked in enough water to shut off the engine. BUT... if you stayed on the throttle... you could pull enough water in to hydro-lock the engine, and bend a rod.

#2: If it's clean fresh water... overnight wasn't good... but it's not going to be it's death. If this was salt water... then even if you get it started... it's only a mater of time before a bearing will fail.

a final reminder... what doc said...

just fall off, when you feel yourself going over, let go of the handlebars and fall off, the only time i'd try to power thru and stay on would be if a big azz boat was barrelling up behind me and i decide in that split second that if I jump off i'd get run over.

the captain has the right to go down with the ship, but the ship should never go down with the captain, let go, fall off, the ski will right itself and you just climb on the back, bitch a little about losing your sunglasses, then enjoy the rest of your day on the water.
