Reverse Throttle Limit Gate Not present

I finished a jet pump oil change last month and just noticed that my forward throttle was limited and reverse was full throw. I did have the linkage bolt in backward, and I flipped it around and now when in reverse completely or forward there is no restriction. If I move the shifter back up tp 80% it will limit the throttle, but not a 100%. Forward feels fine. BTW we are in storage so I have not run it. Any thoughts? Linkage and cables look good.:willy_nilly:

I'm not 100% sure what you asking. You show the Sporster LE in your avatar, so I'll assume this is the pump your referring to.

The limit switch on these things is usually locked out at 3000 rpm, to keep from throwing anyone overboard. The neutral switch will not allow the boat to start without being in neutral, then on your forward and reverse controller, there is a lock-out that will not allow the motor to throttle up or rev until the positioner is removed from neutral. I'm not sure at how much you have to give your bucket before that lock-out releases but it's adjustable if you pull the control handle out.

On my Challenger, I get 100% when I feel a click when going to forward or reverse, about 25% into it. So, not sure if your just having a mechanical linkage issue, or if something else is holding your throttles back. These control handles are suppose to be standard, but because of the plates and safety catches, they all may be a bit different; but the principle is the same.

And really, if it's not in the water, it's really hard to determine if it's working the right way or not.
 
Thanks for the input, yes it is the sportster. Everything appears correct so I will wait for spring. Aside from the linkage bolt being reversed all went quite easy on the pump oil change. Winter Sux!
