Reverse cable lock nut removal

My reverse cable broke on my ‘06 GTX. I’m trying to see what the best way is to remove the cable lock nut so I can remove the cable. Do I need to remove the reverse gate and then the pump to get in there or is there a way to get to the nut to remove? A special tool perhaps?

There is a tool i made from a pipe , but the reverse gate and pump is easiest, then you can change the nuts on both sides with updated aluminum ones
