my guess is you may have a boost leak somewhere.. check all hose clamps for proper tightness.. if some are old and corroded then change.. i just had a hose blow half way off on me and it wouldnt go past 6700

Pulled hoses seemed tight.spun wheel by hand very hard to do takes lots effort to make wheel spin.put back together and hope to lake test tomorrow night any other suggestions?

I would say no.. You want the wheel quite tight to spin by hand. If it was loose then the charger is toast..

Mine blew off at the throttle body not at the supercharger so make sure those hoses are on as far as they can go and the clamps are really tight.

Give it a go and report back, hopefully it's fixed and you need no further troubleshoot

I did it myself.I am mechanically inclined.Joe from PWC answered my questions and was very helpful. When I say spin compressor wheel by hand it is very difficult to do.I would assume it is clutch acting as it should.I toqued it to spec in directions.Hoping it was hose just not good enough seal some place.I will report back when I can get it back in lake.I should be looking for 8100RPM?

8050 or around there.. 8100 is the limiter so you want to be off there a little

Thanks for that I thought it might be higher. So I am close.Oil is on full mark also I am going to try and put it in lake tonight.

Oil is a little high. You want it to be halfway between low and full for best performance. If these motors have too much oil in them they will lose top end rpm due to increased crank case pressure.

Thanks for info I will suck some out before I put in water today.

'08 RXP should be seeing 8300 on the limiter. Oil is checked on a level sitting ski with oil warm and eng at rest for 30sec or so. You want the oil half way between the bends.

Less the 1/16" of play....I can't budge my sc blades when reaching into the intake with my fingers...less I risk cutting the tips from the pressure being applied.

Lake tested today same results.think I need to retorque thrust washers.I am buying new charger.I will probably sell other charger after retorqueing.

Put new supercharger in spark plugs. now check engine on code says po546. pulls 7840 rpm now. I need suggestions trying to get ready for weekend.

Sounds like a bad exhaust temp sensor. Check the connection to make sure it isn't loose. If it isn't take a look at the wiring harness by it to make sure it isn't damaged before you drop some cash on a sensor. Or since you replaced the supercharger, did you disconnect it and forgot to plug it back in?

I'd guess so since you had to loosen the water box and move it out of the way slightly to clear the SC.

Yes going to check in morning. If that sensor was loose or not connected would that hold RPM to 7840 or is something else wrong?

I don't believe so. If it was to cause anything it would cause it to go into limp mode and then you won't see revs anywhere near 7800. Next place if look is at a intake hose that might be restricted by something.

Is the ski all stock or do you have any mods?

Its all stock.pulled 7950to 8000 till we rebuilt supercharger. then would only pull 7740rpm.gave up and bought brand new supercharger now 7840rpm with beeper going and check engine light flashing with po546 code coming up going to check exhaust temp sensor in morning.hoses on all way and clamps tight. any other idea what would be holding rpm down now

Outside temp and humidity can have an impact on it. I s usually lose about 100 rpm when it's above 90 and humid out.

curious here...what charger...what rebuild kit....how many in/pounds did you set the slip?

just read your last...is the pump clear?

Supercharger set slip on it to torque that came in directions. only pulled 7740 rpm with that one.took hoses off to look for leak on hoses reinstall all hoses no better. So I thought maybe messed something up with rebuilding of supercharger so I bought a brand new one ready to bolt in from PWC MUSCLE. Then we put that charger in. Now like I said check engine is on with code po546.I am checking exhaust temp wire today. runs awesome lots of torque and pulls hard just can't get over 7840 RPM. jet pump intake is clear.

So you wouldn't be worried about not hitting 8300 RPM and being down that 400 RPM. I have just been concentrating on that number of 8300.I hope that's it.
