Rebuild or buy reconditioned

09 gti 155 Se doo,
I've taken my ski in to have the carbon seal fixed again, the mechanics says he's found metal shavings in the oil filter and after inspecting further the crank shaft is moving from side to side, ( I'm going to have a look later today). He's suggesting the motor which has over 1000 hours should be rebuilt.
Just last Easter I had the ( rubber coated) drive shaft replaced ( 09 10 seadoo PwC supplement) plus a few other bits
With the current issues and findings would it be cheaper to buy a recondition motor or have my current one rebuilt?

it depends on if you are going to give them you old engine. If you do not give it to rebuilders you will pay more

Wait, let me get this straight. You have an 09 with a 1000 hours on it? Dang you must live on it.
Wow, if I got a 1000 hours out of a motor, I would have that motor rebuilt. Good luck.

Yeah bit over a 1000 hours, the ski is actually a ex rental I bought it when they upgraded to a new fleet of skies. It's had some issues but not as major as this.

That's what I've seen, I'm just trying to work out rather or not it'd be easier on the pocket to rebuild or buy a reconditioned engine.
The mechanic is pulling the motor out this week to get a better inspection of what's going on, he said the crank shaft is moving back and forth ( not side to side) and that the issue could be some washers or shims something of the such. Which wouldn't be too bad of a fix other then that it's junk as he's told me.

Like everyone said a engine that did 1000 hrs is awesome I would probably want to have that block rebuilt you know the machining was dead nuts on it
