The 947 top end can be done in place.

I like engines with attitude. :)

Understand cost is always a factor, but how much longer will the crank hold up on a 951 engine with a worn out top end? I'd pull it and do a complete rebuild, not a top end in place.

It can be but shouldn't be is my humble opinion. That's a big gamble. New top end and pistons bored and what about the crank play, bearings and the cb, gaskets, seals, reeds. Even if everything specs out fine you can't clean out the crank case without taking it apart.

I pull engines as a last resort. They stay in the ski and I drop my tools and they roll under the engine where I can't reach them. That is the fun part. :D :D

Would you mind starting your own thread as I like watching your builds and the OP hasn't been on this thread since the #4 post.
