I have 1996 XP

I just pulled my RAVE guillotines out and cleaned both of them they were really bad. So as I was assembling them back into the engine I was not sure how tight I should make the guillotine. I am refering specificaly to the guillotine and not the RED CAP on the outside black cover. Should I screw the guillotine completely down and snug? Or is there a particular number of turns depending on the amount of play I want in the guillotine before I attach the black cover (with red cap) and spring?

They should just drop in. They only fit 1 way. Then the red cap should be screwed all the way in. If not all the way then flush to the top of the black ring of the cap.

The rubber bellow with the coil spring that holds it on tight to the black plastic top. All of which screw down onto the guillotine is the part that I am talking about. Should that assembly been tightened down all the way.

Part order:

guillotine
rubber bladder
coil spring
threaded black plastic top (this is the part that threads onto the guillotine)[this is part that I am concened about]
steel spring
black plastic cap with red plastic centered spring adjustment screw
keeper spring exterior

W. D.

Tighten All the way down ...

Adjustments are made with Red Cap. Trust me if you leave the Guillotine not threaded all the way into the cap .. when that baby is roastin' at 7200RPM she'll tear those black plastic threads right out then melt your whole exhaust rave assembly.

I have enclouded an attachement for the RAVE. I am wanting to make sure that the Diaphram or item number 2 should be tightened all the way down?

The diaphram seats itself in the groove on the bottom part of the valve housing. then you screw the top on. Once it seats the diaphragm almost installs itself on the top. seat it all the way then put the spring ring on.

I understand that it is plastic and that I should be very careful installing. However, I just wanted to verrify that it should be tightened completely flush. If so are you suggesting it should be torque to about 10 14 foot pounds?

P. S. I really do appreciate the help on this. I do realize it may not have been very easy to help me.

No prob...yeah just dont go crazy on the torque....10 should be plenty. Tight w/o stripping plastic threads...but more than just finger tight.

hand tight

Install the valve into the "guide housing", on the motor, so that the word "TOP" is facing the head/top of motor. Now install the "bellow" housing, without the cap on it, but just the bellow. With it ontop of the stem of the valves/guitines, thread the bellows on til they bottom out....If anything, once bottomed, and you install the 2-allen bolts on each housing, now lift up un center of bellow, to actuate the valves. With them clean and free of carerbon, should lift up with ease.
