Hi all,

I'm new to the sea doo world as of 2 weeks ago.
I purchased a '14 gtx 155 with 34hrs. In beautiful condition--had a dealer go through it.
I notice out of the hole it has a slight lag..even in sport mode. If I squeeze the throttle all the way it takes a couple of seconds before the rpm to get up high enough to get it out of the water.
I compared it with my friends '16 gti 130 and his blasts out of the water in sport mode..even with 2 people on it.

Is this normal because mine is over 100 lbs heavier or should I be looking at something else?

Thanks in advance
Chris

Can you define "lag" a little bit? Does it feel like you're "spinning your wheels" a bit before you get on plane?

Take a look at the jet drive and have a look at the impeller for dings, bent edges etc. Also look at the wear ring that is around the impeller, Do you see gaps
as you move the impeller by hand?

I will have a look at what you mentioned.

By lag I mean from the time I squeeze the throttle until the time the engine responds and gets the rpm up is a couple of seconds.
It doesn't have that 'snappy' out of the hole acceleration.

So it's not a case of the engine revving up appropriately but the ski "slow" to move.

When grabbing the throttle, the engine simply does not rev up immediately? If this is the case it's likely not the jet drive.

Critical to know if you get high engine RPMs and poor ski performance or, low RPMs and poor ski performance.

It's just a matter of the engine slowly revving up as opposed to quickly--in turn making it slow from a stopped position instead of snappy and quick out of the hole.

Well. I'm guessing it is a fuel issue. I'd change the fuel filter and the spark plugs and then see what happens.

Very likely a spark-plug issue. You may even find the plugs just need to be properly torqued to 17ft/lbs. However, I would replace the plugs and fuel filter out of due diligence.
