Hey All,

I received my hydroturf kit from PWCMuscle this morning (so stoked to get this on my boat!). I figured I would post the duty charges that canadian customers can expect when placing orders. On top of your order, shipping and exchange rate, you can expect an addition $30.00 CDN for duty / importation fees.

I'm always curious about these charges and figured this post would assist future canadian customers. BTW PWCMuscle is great to deal with, shipping is about 1 week to canada. And this is a hight quality product!

The duty charges aren't controlled by PWCMUSCLE.COM.it's a trade rate to Canada.

Hi Karl,

Fully aware that it's the Canadian Gov't getting their slice! I just wanted to post the cost so Canadians had an idea of what to expect when the courier shows up!

Our taxes aren't high enough up here :ack: they'll get yah whenever they can!

Yup, duties suck but you have to pay them. I just got my order in the mail this morning. Haven't checked it out yet but maybe tonight when I get home. I also got my new poppy cover which I didn't have to pay duty on. Just FYI.

Canada is strange when it comes to the import taxes. I send stuff into Canada all the time from my shop (A&L Motorsports) but in the past 3 years... I bet only 3~4 people have come back and said they got charged anything extra. Normally, if they get their parts in less than a week... they are clear. If they contact me asking when it was shipped... they are going to get hit with a tax. (held up in customs)

Your manufacturing parts in your machine shop, so since it's made in USA it "should" fall under the free trade agreement and your canadian customers shouldn't have to pay duty. Only tax disbursement and brokerage. I find this website useful for getting total costs of products shipped in from USA. www.thefinalcost.com

Am I allowed to post links to other websites in the forum? I'm sure it'll get deleted if i broke the rules ...

Thanks guys... that's good to know. I will have to add... "Made in the USA" to my duties paperwork.

Oh... and yes... you can post a link as long as it's not a competing site.

Hydro Turf is cut and packaged in California. I can't speak as to where the mat material is produced, but it is certainly assembled in the USA.

Hi BMann;

That amount, $30, sounds more like provincial taxes than duty. Even items that are duty-exempt under NAFTA attract provincial GST or HST. Is it possible you were only dinged for provincial tax?
