Using "right" and "left" as your options, please identify the target location (i.e. top and bottom) of each ring in the photo?

Example: Left is top and right is bottom.

Thanks,

Gregg

BTW - I have tried the rings in each groove and as long as they are right side up, they fit either piston groove perfectly. Right side up being determined with the company logo that is engraved. If you flip a ring, the chamfer becomes very obvious.

Thanks again!

I just did a 2003 RX DI and both rings looked the same to me. I just installed them with the champfer facing the top. So far it runs. :)

That's good news!! Maybe my photo is not good enough. The ring on the left is more shiny and the one on the left is more black. This is only true while looking at the horizontal surface of the rings. If you look at the vertical edge of the rings you get a different answer.

I had read in another post that the black ring goes on the bottom, but they did not state if the "ring color" was determined using the horizontal or vertical surface. I would assume horizontal, but my brother assumed vertical. I'm waiting to get my cylinder back from Full Bore so I thought I would try to get clarification. Appreciate your response :thumbs-up:

Generally the shiny or Chrome goes on top. I'm pretty sure both the rings I installed looked the exact same. I read the literature and didn't see anything other than the markings go toward the top of the piston.
