Pass or Buy? 2004 Seadoo GTX 4-Tec Supercharged LTD

So I am browsing online and found a guy selling a 2004 Seadoo GTX. He’s selling it relatively cheap because he said that the unit starts but when he gives it gas it barely goes and shuts off. After some quick searching I’m thinking maybe it could be a simple wear ring issue? Or could it be something more serious? The Seadoo has 189 hours on it. He lives about an hour away so I haven’t gotten to look at the unit in person. Seller is asking $2000 with a nice single trailer.

Good luck with that, if the wear ring is worn out the engine would not shut off. Several reasons possible, no risk, no fun.

In my opinion $2000 is too much for a ski that doesn't run. If it was something as simple as a wear ring he would have spent the $50 and fixed ti to get top dollar.

As Rikky said a wear ring will not cause the ski to shut off. It will be something way more fun like fuel, electrical or mechanical. Also you will need a $500 supercharger rebuild because I am sure it hasn't been done.

Originally the seller said it starts but when you give it throttle it barely goes, so that’s why I thought wear ring. But then he mentioned it actually shuts off so I edited my original post to reflect that information. I have decided to pass.

Summer is passing fast. A non working ski in July sucks.

Beware of non-runners, he might be selling it b/c it needs a new engine.
