I am getting ready to change the wear rings on my 96 Speedster. According to Dr. Honda, of this forum, I need the impeller tool. He said i should be able to find one for around $15. So far, the lowest I have been able find one is $107. Anybody know where I can buy one without laying out that kind of $? Thanks!

I just bought a new one on my latest rebuild, far better product then the ebay ones you'll find for $10.00 IMO. I think I paid around $30.00 for it plus some shipping. But it's better quality and will far outlast the one I bought on ebay. Come to think of it I lent my old one to a sdf member and never got it back ...

Thank you very much!!

Thanks for your help! I am looking it up now!!

they are about $20-$30 with shipping. Any place that sells impellers has them. Parker Yamaha sells the solas one for $10 plus shipping..

I did my wear rings last summer. Didnt need to remove the impellor. I took the pump housing off and used a chisel to CAREFULLY break out the old ones. once removed I cleaned up the surface really well. I froze the new rings and they slid right in place. A few light taps with a rubber mallet to seat them all way down and They fit great.
Not sure... but I think I saw this lil tip on Youtube.

Wow! Thanks for the tips! VERY helpful!

Yw. glad i could help. just be sure to go easy on the chiseling. you dont want to damage the surface that mates with the wear ring.
I froze the ring for about 30 mins prior to installing them.
