I rebuilt my '95 SPI carb this summer and it seemed to go well, but getting the (genuine Mikuni) parts here in Upper Soviet Canuckistan proved to be a real challenge and took many months. Especially given the long lead times on everything on earth at the moment, I want to get a jump on the parts needed to do my '95 GTX carbs and the SPI's gas gauge float in the spring. OSD looks like a good way to go, but it appears that communicating with them is difficult or impossible - though they specifically discuss Australia and New Zealand in their "shipping" section, there's no mention of Canada. With the border reopening today (yay!) I have the option of getting parts shipped directly to me (presumably at a high postage cost) or to a Montana mail drop (much cheaper, but extra time and hassle to then fetch it from the border - but I have all winter if I get the order in now). So have any other canucks dealt with them? Will they even ship up here?

I know Nick stopped shipping internationally due to all the issues right now. He's on vacation this week though so you'd have to wait to check with him.

That's my point - I tried to check with them earlier in the summer and received no reply. Otherwise I wouldn't have brought a vendor-specific question like this to the forum.

He's a small business and the summer time is crazy. I also quit shipping Usps to Canada bc of some Toronto morons going nuts that it was taking two months when I shipped same day. It's all such a joke.

I also carry genuine carb kits, needles and seats and all other important parts....as well as used parts.

Understood - except for the part about two-months-to-TO. Normal postal mail between the countries takes a week or two. Don't get what could possibly have jammed up a shipment for a couple of months.

Brandon is biden and they both have done things that allow government run business like the post office to be run like this. I had some issues last year but after Xmas everything was smooth. No issues till I sent 3 different customer packages to Ontario in June. All 3 took forever... One guy had to nerve to blame me for using Usps and that I was supposed to know they suck when I had no issues up till then. That was the same time osd had issues as well and he just quit shipping to Canada. All in the name of a scamdemic.

Now our health care system is being run like Canada. You have to go to independent doctors and pay cash to get any help.

There's a ton of stuff to disagree over in there, but the part there's no argument whatsoever about is that our prime minister's first name is "Justin", not "Brandon".

Other than that (OT warning), I live here but have worked a lot in the States, including under circumstances in which people have been hurt. So, for all its flaws (which we understand well because nobody here scaremongers over it), a socialized, single-payer health care system works pretty well here. I'm happy to be able to walk into a hospital and have surgery (that I couldn't otherwise afford without adding a second mortgage to - or losing - my house) without shelling out a single penny or getting bankers involved. Chances are that I understand your system better than you understand ours, and the McCarran-Ferguson Act and HMO/insurer lobbyists created - and remain - big problems despite the recent amendment. All-y'all need to get over the "socialism" boogyman, because too many not-very-well-informed citizens don't understand how it differs from "communism".

But back to Canada Post: It's what's called a "crown corporation", which, while owned by the government, operates completely independently. The US federal government actually has way more control over the USPS than our feds do over the post office here. So it's silly to try to blame Trudeau for anything that goes on with the mails. Sometimes stuff just gets jammed up, and Ontario isn't the whole country (despite what they seem to think sometimes). Further, Health Canada (and the provincial health departments, which actually deliver the services) have even less to do with Canada Post than does the PMO (Prime Minister's Office), so any suggestion that COVID had any effect on the the post office is just very dumb.

p.s. Even though we aren't aligned politically, I'll still be happy to deal with you over this stuff!

From my experience OSD is a good supplier and I have used them a number of times. They have a variety of parts and information on their Website. You are right in ordering now especially with regard to Mikuni Carb parts. During the summer I contacted my normal supplier and they did not have the full kit that I needed but OSD had what I needed and even though they were on vacation at the time I still got my parts in a reasonable amount of time. I use Bay Area Powersports in Virginia as my main supplier but I have no allegiance to any supplier when I need apart they don't have in stock. :D Every man for himself. LOL

I think OSD will get you the parts as quickly as anyone and good quality stuff too. Good Luck !!

According to leftist ideology, what is the goal of socialism?

The moderator has spoken on this matter, and I intend to respect his wishes.

I think, though, that I wouldn't be violating the forum rules by saying that this is the direction in which I would take the conversation:

Back to the original topic...

I messaged Nick and he said he did just start shipping to Canada again but is still closed this week.

Im not going to continue reading theough the arguement in this thread but I will add. Lol. Ontario is probably the culprit. Shipping is always slow through ontario because they think they are the center of the world. Maybe lazyness in the eastern half? Anything shipped through the west is reasonable in shipping time. We know when its time to work its time to work. You can play as hard as you want after the job is done. If i order something from B.C. i can get it next day even now during the covid deal. Ontario it takes 2 1/2 weeks minimum because they are so awesome over there. I recently ordered from OSD and Im in Sask. Got it in a slower than normal but reasonable amount of time considering the worlds shipping situation at the moment. Once it got to Calgary, I had it the next day.

That OT conversation got clamped off pretty fast.

Good to hear from you - we're just south of Calgary (and tried to sail Diefenbaker for the first time this summer, but the wind was dead). Was the shipping cost reasonable as well? If not, it wouldn't be OSD's fault - the postage costs for shipments between the countries have really gone nuts.

Mine(dealer) to told me he could get me a generic kit for more money than online. So ordered what i thought would be genuine online. Then spent money twice and have another kit from OSD sitting here now. I also believe I may have found a Canadian company that carries them online now too but I wasnt able to confirm 110% and they were out of stock at the time but now back in stock.
Shipping costs were about as expected I guess. I couldnt hold that against OSD and they actually credited me back some shipping because they werent able to ship one item across the border.

Do tell! Who is it? Since Mikuni is a motorcycle thing, I even tried to go through my local cycle shop, hoping to get it into one of their regular orders, but it ended up that the only one of their disties that had any stock was in California (Sudco), so they just said go ahead and get it directly from them. Sudco was fine to deal with - but they didn't have the needle valve in stock, so I wound up having to get it from someone else. So I'd be perfectly happy to deal with someone who's specialized and doing it right, hence my interest in OSD.

Unless there's someone up here who has stock.

I don't exactly know for sure if its okay to post that on the open forum. I can possibly pm you the info instead if I can figure out how... Dont want to take business away from someone like OSD that hooked me up in a timely manner and even had the order ready for shipping on a sunday. This was just a couple few weeks ago.
