Hey everybody I'm new to the forum. My name is Kevin I'm an automotive technician by trade. I bought 2 2002 seadoo GTX 4 tec non sc with double trailer for 2500 dollars. One has 199 hours the other 197 both are good. I'm fixing impeller and wear ring on one, my question is should I pull driveshaft and replace carbon seal at same time? I'm thinking yes not knowing if it's original but it seems fine other than clamp on carbon ring a little loose.

If it were me, I'd replace it all. Bellows as well. Since you are into it, just makes sense. Once you do so, your good for many years.

Thanks, I was thinking the new driveshaft with bellow and new seals. I've rode both, done compression and leak down test everything is good. When I did coolant pressure check I found both plastic fittings and hoses leaking at ride plate. I removed and used different clamps and reseal ed with loctite 577. So far so good hopefully we have a great and safe season this year.

sweet another forum member named Kevin that is a tech. i too am a auto tech under car mainly.
welcome to the forum. sounds like you got a great buy on 2 skis

Thank you, I have seen yalls post and you are very knowledgeable and good at what you do, I like to surround myself with smart people. I have another question, pumps I've pulled out have what looks like 2 set screws in 4 holes holding wear ring, should there be all 4?

My 2003 GTX also had 2 set screws. The old pump housing was made of plastic and tended to flex in use, so I can't say it was a great way to keep the wear ring stable. My suggestion is to (very carefully) pre-drill the wear ring (but not completely through), so the screws bite without pushing against the ring and warping it. Good luck!
