oil tank leak

Hello everyone,

been a while since I have been on.

I fired up the ski a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the oil tank at the lower pick up point is leaking. I haven't pulled the tank yet, but is there anything I need to watch for or any suggestions before I begin? will I need to bleed the oil pump if I dont get any air in the line once I disconect the out going oil line?

Nothing to worry about as long s you don't loose all the oil in the oil lines. If you do get air in the tank end of the lines the air bubbles will just seep to the top of the line by tank and be gone. If you drain the oil pump of oil then you will have to bleed the pump by giving it full oil at the cable and making sure the oil is full in the lines and pump. You would see the oil moving the bubbles through the pump when you activate the cable disc on the pump. As far as just pulling the tank to repair the leak, keep the oil lines full and above the engine so it wont lose oil.

have fun w/that. at least you have a 787. on the 951 it's a PAIN.

the seal between the tank and the pickup (drain) is leaking. that or sometimes they leak at the seam.

I'd replace the oil filter to since you'll be digging around in there anyway.

you go in through the front of the ski (remove the bin) and remove the glove box lid & bottom. that's how I've done it.

Im thinking (hoping) its that 6 dollar gromet that is leaking.

I just looked at the price of the paddle wheel for the speedo and everytime I look its goes up five bucks. I should have bought it 2 years ago when it was around 40 bucks, now it is 56.
