When you start to see copper colored metal flakes in your oil filter that is when you should be concerned. Every oil change I see very tiny bits of metal in my filter and my ski runs great with no odd noises what so ever.
You still have not explained how na Sea Doos can go over 1000 hours without this "normal " maintenance so this guy at a 135 hours is being treated wrong and your analysis and GH just does not add up and has one wondering why someone would even push such nonsense. Also as a side note , any metal debris that gets into the oil from the defective super charger he declares as normal maintenance so his response is a derivative of that .
I just rebuilt a 2009 130 4tec with 880 hours. It had the most scarred up oil pump I've ever seen and at least 10 times worse than op's pics in his first post. Even with all the scoring, the oil pressure was excellent. It is actually a tribute to a very good design where you can run thousands of pieces of metal through an oil pump and it still works very well.

So 880 hrs and still pumping so that proves that the pump is not a normal maintenance item (is engineered to take what it's getting ) anymore then crankshaft bearings . It should run the life of the engine just like any 4 stroke engine anyone of has had most likely. Just more trying to dodge responsibility by declaring something normal maintenance after finding out sometimes it fails a little earlier then reasonable. Where have I herd that before????? Lastly I have a 2015 so there may be a unpublished fix so we will see what my oil filter looks like.
Are you an idiot or just a troll? Inquiring minds would like to know, please.
You can't argue with success dude !
If I end up having to do routine maintenance on the oil pump after 1000hrs runtime , I can live it and I am sure so could the guy that started this thread!
Where the hell are these offending particles coming from in an NA motor?? I can understand a piece of ceramic washer making its rounds, but what you guys are describing suggests a rogue chunk of steel or something just making its rounds... I know there is a magnet in the MAG chamber, and screens on the oil pumps. What could be causing this?? My oil pumps were a bit chewed, but I had a tiny sliver of ceramic washer missing on my SC when I rebuilt it. The OIL pressure is good (verified with gauge) and the thing runs fine, so I figured I'd leave it as is, but now I'm wondering if this is not a ticking time bomb.
Ooooh, sorry didn't read all the previous posts. That makes total sense! Makes me want to attach a few powerful magnets to that primary oil pump screen. I'll consider doing this next time I'm in there. If anyone else is thinking of doing this, I'll warn you of the dangers of using those rare earth magnets with the holes in the center. They are Very brittle. I'm going to keep an eye out for a better solution.
If you had a new 155 motor, woiuld you follow the 100 hour oil change interval? Or woud you do like a first one sooner? All the dealers I've checked with say 100 hours for first one.
Only problem is teh particles are aluminum! non magnetic. They come from the scoured housings alot.
