Oil level

On my '99 GS...there is an oil fill cap on the right side. There is no dipstick however!? I read the owners manual to try to determine exactly how much oil is supposed to be in the tank.

Owners manual says:
To add injection oil in the tank, unscrew the cap. Fully tighten when finished.

There is no mention of what the proper level is or how to check the level!? Is there an indicator line on the tank that I didn't see? Do you just fill it to the point of "full" before running out of the cap?

I just don't want to over or under fill the tank but the manuals explanation SUCKS!

it should have the dipstick, but if not just take it to the top, i would not leave oil sitting in the neck but you could take it to the top of the tank. If you are using the injection system that amoutn that is in there is going to last a couple fill ups just top it off evey so ofter , scroll to the bottom right here on the link and put in you year and these are your specs showing size of oil tank and gas tank ect, Good luck and have fun

Brandon is right. If you don't have a dipstick on yours, just keep it from 1/2 to full. The tank is translucent so you can see the oil level if you remove the seat. Or you can use a flashlight and look into the neck. Just check it every 2-3 tank fulls. I keep a little extra oil in the ski, in an aluminum water bottle, just in case I'm out and run low, you don't want to mix oils especially types.

So it really doesn't matter how much is in the tank, the motor will only use what it needs, just don't let it run low, a red warning light will come on if you are low on oil.

It not that critical, since you will have to burn 40 gal of fuel to make it low. (Multiple tanks for fuel) SO... if you have more than half a tank of oil... you will be fine for a tank of fuel.
