1997 GSI oil in bottom of hull.

Hello, I've got a 1997 GSI with a puddle of oil in I believe in the hull underneath the engine. I found a clear line unplugged and just laying down there which I assume is the oil return line from the bottom of the crankcase?

From searching around I gather there should be an 90° nipple this hose attached to? Nowhere can I find where that sucker is physically located on the engine. The shop manual just says "from crankcase return" with not even a description of where that might be?

I can snap a few pictures if that'll help?

Thanks in advance.

The return line from for the rotary valve goes from the top of the oil tank to below the exhaust manifold, just follow the return line from the top of the oil tank. I’m betting the clear line you’re seeing in the hull is for the battery vent. Have a look at the small oil lines that go from the oil pump to the intake manifold and make sure they are still attached and in good shape
