Oil injection pump

Have had trouble in past with cylinders filling with oil, engine runs great.
Question- is the oil pump suppose to leak oil into the rotory valve area with engine off? Pumps oil ok when running. Alignment marks are aligned ok.
some people suggest inner crank seals bad, tore engine down and seals look and feel ok and snug. Rotory valve seal same.
Am I looking at the right area? Oil pump seeps oil when engine off, puddles in rotory valve area. The oil seem to come out of the injector port nozzels. I don't think it should but would appreciate a pros point of view. '
Thanks

There will be a very small amount of leakage from the injection system, after the engine is shut off. That is the small amount of oil sitting in the rotary valve. But, if you have oil in the crankcase after it's been siting... it's either the center crank seal, or the rotary valve seals.

If the engine runs well, after it clears out, don't worry about it.

I almost forgot. The little banjo bolts on the pump, that have the 2 small hoses connected to them... they have a check valve in them. If they are functioning... they will keep the the oil from siphoning into the engine, from the oil tank.

the "leak" can sometimes be worse than others. If it sits for a month and will fire up and smoke like crazy, its polluting like crazy, but runable. If you have to pump out oil before it will start, its excessive.

I have a theory on why...more than just bad seals. The check valve will allow about 2-3psi build up in the oil tank which pushes the oil against those seals. I now crack the oil cap just enough to breathe. You do have a chance of getting water in there so be careful...but since doing that on a old beater ski, it never fills with oil.

This also relates to oil in the bottom of the hull...its pushing oil past the bungs.

I appreciate your replies guys. I have been speaking to several people and they all indicate the same.
A crank rebuilder that does some work on these says the seals may be good but the leak may be around the seal where it sits in the case. Says a little yama bond or honda bond works well there to insure a good seal.
I will check the check valves to see if free.
I took the oil pump and set it up with a supply tank on the bench. Made sure the alignment marks are correct. put a 1/2 quart bottle with injection oil 30 inches above it and let it sit over night. The oil pump leaked oil from the nozzels. Cleaned oil up and let it sit another night, still leaked. maybe oil pump needs to be replaced.
Again thanks for all your input.

Oil leak

Found the problem in the check valves (Thanks DR HONDA).
Ordered up a set. can't wait to get it in the water.
Thanks to all on the replies.
