Was wondering on ohio titles if they need to be notorized? I bought a motorcycle from IL once and it had a line to have it notorized. Well I won a 95 gts and 96 xp with nice double trailer for $810. Says xp needs im guessing mpem ( thanks to minnetonka and spxxx i know mine is good) im
Sure it needs more then gts ran last year hoping for best expecting worse. Will get pics once I pick it up

As far as I know they do need to be notorized. I bought to skis off someone in Ohio this winter and we had to go to the bank to get both titles notorized.

They would only need to be notarized if they had a lean on them. When they were paid off the bank sends a document that is notarized so you dont have to go back to the bank. You just have to staple that document to the title.

I purchased my 96GSX in Ohio a couple of years ago, and yes the titles need to be notarized lien or no lien. I'm not sure is Ohio requires it but when I titled it Kentucky required it. I wouldn't take any chances I would get the titles notarized.

Lou is right!

Thanks everyone glad I asked. Indiana doesnt need anything like that. I talked to owner he first stated that I would have to when I got it in my name. Now were getting it notorized when I pick them up

This is just a minor legal point, but actually you're not notorizing the title you're notorizing the signatures.

If you are going to take them into another state... then you are best to get them notarized.

Just an FYI... the trailer isn't going to have title... so make sure you get the signed registration card, and a copy of the sellers driver's license. Bringing an Ohio trailer into PA is a total circle jerk... and they have been know to just reject the Ohio paperwork.

With that said... it's really how strict your state is.

One good way of figuring things out is call a local DMV and find out EXACTLY what they want. Then goto a different local one so they dont 2nd guess why you called first.

In MN I could take a OH guys bill of sale and have registration on it in 5mins. Same with the trailer...

I just thought of something else, you may also need a bill of sale. KY technically requires a bill of sale to determine sales tax, however when I bought the 96GSX the county clerk waived the bill of sale, for some strange reason KY doesn't charge sales tax on water craft. The boat lobby must have been in Frankfort when the sales tax bill passed.

So if IN charges sales tax on boats you will probably need a bill of sale.

In NC the titles have to be notarized. I bought one of my skis about 5hrs away and completely forgot to get the titles notarized. Luckily one of my buddies notarized it for me so I didn't have to drive all the way back up there for the original owner to be present.

Bought a ski from OH a couple of years ago. The OH title had a place for a notary. NY checked to see everything on the OH title was filled in. They told me if it was notorized they would not have allowed me to register in NY. Like Lou said get a bill of sale. If your state has a bill of sale form use that.
