Been working on a 98 gsx limited and a 97 xp that have sat for 10 years. I am about to rebuild the carbs but have come across a few things that I need to know for me to get these things running properly.

1. Where is the water pump located?
2. What is the bilge pump and where is it located?
3. If I plan to mix the gas, will it be an issue to leave the oil pump and just empty the tank?

1) there isn't a water pump. Cooling water is forced into the engine from the jet pump.

2) They didn't come with a bilge pump from the factory. They have a bailing system. There should be 2 hoses that have a baffle hooked to them, and strapped to the bottom of the hull back toward the transom. The suction to run the system comes from the jet pump.

3) I don't recommend going pre-mix, since you would still need to leave the tank in the hull to feed your rotary valve gears. If you do go pre-mix... you need to remove the pump. It will burn up, and seize if there isn't any oil flowing though it. The seadoo oil pump is very reliable. Clean the system, install a new filter, make sure the hoses aren't brittle... and use it. (you will burn less oil too)

Get the gas out (prob the oil too) change the fuel lines, clean the selector valves and carbs, clean the raves, and change the jetpump oil.

I'm pretty set on using mixed gas. These pumps are old and I'd rather spend more oil the no oil and not know until its to late. What is the rotary gear? Does pre mix not oil it?

No premix won't oil it. What I did was went premix and left oil tank in the seadoo. Just full it half way. Plug up the line going to your oil pump and leave the other 2 lines in tact.

I read 40:1 is the recommended mix but everyone complains of oil use after going premix. Wouldn't 32:1 be sufficient enough? Or even lower?

After further inspection, I noticed the pump on top of the tanks. One side is capped, the other side doesnt have a line hooked to it. Both skis are this way. Does that mean someone capped it off?
Also, to oil the rotary gear, it it a line on the bottem of the tank that is gravity fed?

There is no pump on top of oil tank. I think it works like this. There should b 2 oil hoses coming out the bottom of oil tank. One which goes to the oil pump and other goes to rotary gear. Then the hose on top of the oil tank goes to the other side of engine and its like a return for the oil that lubed the rotary gear. Some people remove oil tank and just loop those 2 hoses together and fill with oil.

So the rotary gear rotates the oil. No longer need the pump. Just the tank
