NOOB looking to possibly restore a 97 or 98 GS some questions b4 I'm over my head

Hi all TOTAL NOOB here,
Thanks in advance for any help I can get.
I like to tinker and fix stuff, and have an opportunity to get a 97/98 GS. It has no trailer, a 2022 registration sticker, says it doesn't run and I dont't see a key in the pics. It's like an estate sale situation and i am looking to get it for cheap....
Before i leap, what could this be worth if I fix and flip? How bad is it if engine is toast? Is it something i can part out if repairs are overwhelming? I don't have a trailer, but buddies have their lawn trailers to help me get it home, just not sure how difficult it will be to get it off the farm cart it is sitting on now. Any other advice anybody thinks i need to know/ consider...please feel free

Don't pay more than $500 for a non running ski even if it looks mint.

Expect to put at least $1,000 into it and a lot of hours. They sell for about $2,500 to $3500 in great shape but it is the end of the season.
