No Spark...

didn't have time to read all the posts... you did check the ground to the coil right? I had a ski where that ground wire rotted on the inside and if you PRESS a voltmeter lead to it, it will make enough contact to read 12V, but when you let go, with no pressure, it reverts to 0V. I put a new ground wire on it, and it ran (until the bearings in the connecting rod exploded). Also, (I think) you can check for a positive pulse on the white coil wire with a voltmeter when you turn the pto by hand. This lets you know that the pickup coil is working.

Welp... the finally got the engine to turn over... turns out it was the ground wire from the battery was hooked up wrong and they had another ground underneath the engine that was rotted.... Funny thing is i had it cranky over no problem... so i dunno how the cranking went bad from my house to the dealer... 15 min drive.... Soo either way... still have no spark.... since they couldn't get it to turn over they had to figure that out first and they did ... $80 in the hole already.... now another $80 to figure out why i have no spark :banghead:

Dealer got back to me today... before i get bombed with "i told you" and other comments... one of the first things i did after the ignition coil replacement (old one was spilt in half) i checked the stator and pick up coil... i bought one on ebay... guy claims it was 100% running condition... after i installed in still no spark....

Dealer tells me my pick up coil was bad... not producing any voltage... soo they ordered one and if it works will put me just under $300 for the fix... if it doesn't work then who knows

WElP..... Pick up coil did not work... they got the same results appartently still no spark.... which lead them to the MPEM and sure enough they ordered one and put it in and the baby fired right up.... Soo i got screwed on the MPEM thru ebay ...... Soo since the dealer wants me to bend over on the MPEM ($800) this with the 10% discount he offered... i am reaching out to everyone hear.... does any one have a MPEM for sale ... Part # 278-000-897 ... i will make a separate thread but figured i would start here since you all have been pretty helpful

If I were you, I'd just pick up an MSD ignition MPEM from Ebay for $330. They supposedly give you better bottom end (which is really what we all want out of our 787s right?) and I bet they're just as or more reliable than the stock unit.
