Hello everyone - just purchased a 1997 speedster and love it. Only had it in the water once but noticed when I took it out and pulled the plug - the bilge drained a lot of water. Ran for about 5 minutes. I think it may be due to the scupper. I can basically look in the line from the back of the boat. No check valve or anything. Can the water run into the bilge this way? The scupper hose appears to be in great shape with no holes I can see.

Also - the engines seem to accelerate together until about 4000rpm then the left (port) seems to hang up a little while the right smoothly goes right up. Eventually they both end up equal but there is a fair amount of yaw when that left one hangs up.

Anything you guys can help me out with would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Dave

p.s. Any suggestions on where to get a rope locker cover without paying an arm and leg. Thanks again!!!!!

congrats on purchase....think the engine compartment get'n that much water, IS due to water com'n in, and drain'n thru the latch door. Check also, make surethe pump is kick'n on, the float could be stuck, but the "over-ride" switch should kick ur on, might be a popped fuse.
You can get those scupper valves at West-Marine/any marine place around 10 buks
Wit hthe motor hesitation, wouldnt be bad idea to get manual (get from here for 10 buks, premium member), and go thru fuel system..lines, carbs, fuel selector valves..etc.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure what the latch door is. Do you mean the hatch in the floor? Thats kinda what I was thinking - water might be flowing in through the scupper line and down that hatch and into the bilge.

Thanks again - dave

yeah, thats wat I meant. While, drive'n, the boat will drain whatever water is in the "feet" area, but once it drains thru door, it ends up in engine bay...
