Newbie With a Beeping Question

Hello, Ive been reading the threads about "no beeps and bad MPEM" my question is, I have 1 1998 GS, that has done nothing since I took battery out to start another jetski. I put back in the GS and then nothing. No beeps, it does nothing when I hit the start button, All fuses are good, I tried pressing the start 5 times, nothing, Does this model allow this diagnostics? I need suggestions where to go from here, Im frustrated at the moment but feel there is someone on this forum who can help. Thanks and I look forward to getting this thing back up and running..

Is this model year (1998) new enough for the programmable key?

Yes, the ski does need to be programmed to the dess, however I don't think this is your problem.

Lets start by keeping it simple. First make sure that the battery is installed correctly, red to positive, black to negative. Check the battery voltage, with no load it should be 13-13.5 volts. Also did you accidentally put the battery in backwards?

Check all of your grounds, I think there are 5 or 6, check them for corrosion or being loose. Check the battery cables, if you twist them and they "crunch" you have internal corrosion.

Let us know what you come up with, and we'll go from there.
