so i want to purchase a more recent and bigger seadoo, i currently have a rx 01
and i came across this add and it looks fairly decent to me. i want to know what people think about this? is this a good deal?

http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-cars-ve...-RXT-215-SUPERCHARGED-2006-W0QQAdIdZ452094423

the add is in french due to the fact i live in quebec but its basically saying

asking price : 6800$
130 hours on it
supercharger changed at 100 hours
he has receipts to back it up
the seadoo has never been in the water for longer then 3 days
comes with trailer
cover
safety box bundle

would like an honest opinion
my biggest concern is that are these new seadoo's with superchargers is it worth it? is it annoying does it break a lot etc. i am new to 4tec supercharged seadoo's

thanks :D

Wow no responses yet.
It looks like a good deal esp. if SC washers have been upgraded already.

Try pm'ing Bmann. He moved from 2stroke to 4 stroke and is very hands on with them.

Heres a link on the exhaust valves. There was an issue with them breaking. Think problem was fixed late 2006

Why were the washers changed at 100hrs? I'd still ride before I buy.

$6300 is about as low I would sell it for it I was selling it with a trailer.

Ocod is right about the valves .. that the early 06' models have the hollow exhaust valves and they can cause disaster. If you pop the cylinder head cover off you can read the valve stem. Look for the numbers etched on the valve (exhaust side) to start with a 75xxx. Its not easy to read them looking into the head but it can be done. If you see that they start with 72 then these are the problematic vavles. I'm assuming you won't be test driving it ...

yea at 6300$ i find is pretty good deal i find, and no i will not be riding it til the water gets warm in april-may and as for the cylinder head idk how to do that so id have to bring it to a mechanic or a dealer.. as for all around do you think i should buy this item? i wont find a better deal for a 06 model thats for sure, because they go for like 8k all the time?!!!! and are they expensive to fix?

I hate to say it, but that is a ton of money to spend on something without going for a test ride. If you don't know your way around that ski with a wrench and you need to pay the dealer to get something fixed, there is a good chance you will bring it up to market price ($8000) or more in to time. Very rare that a visit to the dealer for something not to major, is less then $500.

IMO I find the $6-7500 range (in Canada) is such a hard buy. You don't get anything new enough to be virtually trouble free for a year or 2. If you add $2-3000 to the $6300 chances are you will ride that ski fairly trouble free for a few years. If you take $2-3000 of the $6300 you will get close to the same reliability that you get with a $6300 ski.

I am not looking for a debate just food for thought. Buying these things used is always a tough chew.

Good Luck

yea, i agree but im gonna have to upgrade sooner or later! i want a bigger machine and the rxt215 seems like something i would enjoy, rather then my rx, altough i really do enjoy my rx, i think its a good plan to get a rxt

It will definitely be a step up for you. My post was stickly financial based and not riding style or size of ski. Will you be selling your RX or just picking up a second ski?

selling my RX!!! yea financially i know how much these toys cost!!! i am well aware with that! haha been down that expensive road some days

this is what she looks like

I have a cylinder head laying around so I'll get you some pics on how to check which valves are in it. That price is decent so if its in the budget consider it. Yes they are expensive to fix, alot of specialty tools are required to properly diagnose. With that said they are a realiable machine if maintained.

awesome bmann, waiting for those pics, and you should check out the canada forum sector, were trying to organize a ride in the 1000 islands/kington region this upcoming season! would be cool if you came along

so finally, ive been waiting to see if i wanted to buy it or not, and more and more deals are coming accross on kijiji in my area, and a rxp popped up? wats better RXP or RXT?

Two different animals.

The rxp is shorter, lighter and faster....on the flat. Even in light chop an experienced rider can beat an rxt. The vts is a big advantage for the heavier static pump rxt to have to over come.

Having said all that....equally modded...in water with any kind of chop...the rxt will walk away from the smaller more nimbal rxp. The biggest reason...the rxt has a larger pump tunnel and can better feed the prop.

BRP addressed this failing with the rxp-x.

Does a rxp with 30hrs seem legit it's a 2005!!!???

Most of my friends call me an apethetic, greedy bastard. They forget the pessimism that's goes with it all. An old saying...if it seems to good to be true, it probably is....serves me well.

Who know's though. Wouldn't hurt to check it out.

Looking at the ad I would bet that its a ski that was brought up from the USA and rebuilt. Its an 05' with no registration decals on it, so they likey stripped them off. Yes 30hrs is very legit, I've gone down south to pick up to skis, both with 47hrs (ironic). Anyways that price is very competetive. The seller is definately realistic for the time of year. Again, you likely have supercharger washers that could be outdated, and if the head hasn't been done, you will definately have the hollow exhuast valves. Its a gamble, but if you would have time before riding season to get the head and blower done.

Ron,

It's clear to me that we're gonna have to send Sis to Montreal to straighten you out.

so i took a second look at this seadoo and it was a seadoo from FL and he says hes got the registration and its legit, for the SC washers and head, is this complex and are parts expensive for me to fix?
