Picked this 2000 XP up for $400 for ski and trailer. VTS works and all the gauges work. Comp low on one cyl. Looks a little weathered but seems to be cleaning up well. I will post updates and pics as I go. Something to keep me busy between other jobs. Comments/suggestions good/bad welcome.

agree with the turf, i'd say get rid of it, (although it's not severely buckled) but I never liked that rubber anyways, to slick IMO.

pull the pads, clean up underneath and returf.

nice find.

Thanks. Here's a pic of the GSX I just finished re turfing. Makes a world of difference.

very cool project! Looks like its mostly elbow grease that's needed on the outside. Do they still make decals for those? I tried ordering decals for a few machines that were 2002-2003 & I could only get the BRP front badge. Not that you need the oem ones to make it nice.

Just curious.

Thanks...haven't even looked yet for them. Want to see how much $$$ I'm going to have to invest in it first. Decals aren't too bad but would def look nice with new ones. I have a guy that does vinyl wraps and stickers etc. my see if he can duplicate some oem ones.

Well I was hoping to just do a top end but guess I'll be putting a new motor in it.

Lol yep. Well guess I will pull the motor out and send it to SES to have it built right. While it's there going to prob pull and clean the tanks and try to spit clean the bilge. I guess if I'm going to do it may as well do it right. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do to it while the motor is out? Besides go through the carbs and replace the darn tempo fuel lines.

Have you tested the electric bilge pump yet?

cleaned the scuppers

the XP engine is actually quite easy to swap. I think they designed it that way.

The bilge pump cycles like it's supposed to when I put the battery in. What do you mean by "clean the scuppers)?

I see what looks like the remnants of a rod thrust washer. looks like it might have spit the big end bearing. I Hope the lower case didn't get vented in the process.

I believe it is the rod bearings. I can wiggle the rod all around with the head lifted up. I've seen it before where it bust the block. I'm hoping not. Going to try to pull the motor out tonight. Talked to SES today. He said if it did bust the case he could prob fix it unless it's totally trashed.

Bearing is disintegrated. No hole in the block but it is def cracked. Hopefully SES can fix it up.

So while I have this thing out and apart I was thinking about replacing the reeds. A few of them feel weaker than the others. Does it really matter what kind I go with or is there a recommended brand? Is there any type of performance reed that will make a difference?

Motor being shipped this week to SES. Getting the premium motor with 2 year warranty. Now it's hurry up and wait! Anyone have any thoughts on replacing the reeds? Just get stock reeds or is there some type of performance one that's out there?

Well since my other ski is down for a bit and I got the motor back from SES last week guess I'll try to get this thing back together and running and try to use it for a bit before the summer weather is totally gone. Hope it goes well

Does SES ship their motors with all of the ports open line that? Raves, spark plugs, reeds, etc?

68RT

Nope. I meant to take pics before I started reassembling parts but forgot. It came in all taped and covered. He did a nice job welding/repairing where the rod vented the bottom of the block. Can't even tell it has been repaired.

Motor is now in and aligned, put new oil lines, oil filter, oil inj lines. Going to finish replacing the fuel lines and hope to get carbs and exhaust on this evening. Already drained and cleaned fuel tank and oil tank. The fuel that came out barely had a scent of gas to it. And the oil looked like used oil. This motor will only be seeing high test and XPS synthetic.

Looks like a fun lil project!

I have a buddy that has a house on lake gaston. He has a couple 95 XP 800's running round your parts.

I love it down there at the lake. I still remember when those xp 800's came out. There were two in my cove. The Ol 94 GTS sure couldn't hang with them. Lol
