Never had a 4 tec before

I have only ever had 2 stroke seadoos but I recently had my engine seize so I really don't want to spend $1500 on a new motor on a 98, I have the chance to get a 2007 GTI but it has 300 hours on it, does this seem high or do the 4 strokes get more hours on them then a 2 stroke

It is high, and probably due for some work. I know the 06's had exhaust valve issues, not sure about the 07's. compression test always, leak down test as well if you can.

I'll take that 98 GTXL off your hands
