Hi guys. I am a PWC tech here in Largo, Florida. I had a neighbor give me this old Seadoo XP. Title says it's a 1990 Bombardier XP. It also has TEAM SCREAM decals and the engine is also painted up in this color ful scheme.

It does have a crap load of Westcoast parts. Twin Mikuni carbs with twin intake manifold that is also Westcoast and has been ceramic coated. The cylinders are marked on the sides "R&R Racing", and they also have some nice porting and agressive timing. Also has the Westcoast head with changable domes.
I do believe this is the 717 motor? Here are some pics. I tore down the engine and found that one of the dome cracked and let water in the cylinder. Bottom end is a hotrod crank.

Do any of you know about this ski? Seems the engine is heavily modified.
The pump also had some goodies..nice Solas Prop, extended ride plate...

If anyone could chime in and let me know what I have here...that would be excellent!
A few pics of the tear down..

Its an old yellow 580 motor that was heavily modified....R&R was a hot company back in the day.

You'll have to measure the cyl to see if they dropped 720 cyl on it.

MORE PIX!!!

I'm not positive but I don't think SeaDoo made an XP in 1990, they had an SP or a GT. The XP came out in 1991. Check the HIN, hull identification number the last two digits is the year.

I think the motor you have is a 587 yellow motor, originally was 55HP, the 720 came out in 95 or 96. With all the mods. its hard to tell exactly what you have, a picture of the ski might help. I'm not real familiar with the older ski's but I'm sure other members on this forum are.

The only other advice I can give you is, if were me I wouldn't put a lot of money in this ski it's not worth a lot.

1990... that's VINTAGE.
I started with a '93 GTX in '93.

1969 is vintage. 1990 is the second year of "Real" seadoo's. I ran the piss out '90 for the past couple years. It was a fun, cheap restoration.

Anyway... as Minitonka said.. it's a 580, and they are "580" jugs. BUT... LA BigBore use to do a 700 kit back in the day... and they were only an hour drive from West Coast, and HOT. (They were all in OC and LA county in SoCal)

If one of the domes are cracked, you can weld it, and just grind it clean. You can also check ebay for domes. There was someone selling the old 580 domes cheap since they didn't have anymore head shells. BUT... if it's a big bore engine, then they won't fit. It would be very easy to weld your dome.

Give us a pic or two of the hull.

I think I saw the 1969 one, had a vertical engine and a 90 degree gear setup on the driveshaft? that was nuts! and from what I read you have to lean forward to plane it?

PULL STARt? No Effin' way

that's ahhheewwww... wait for it... SUM.

The exposed fire extinguisher makes me feel REALLY safe.
