I'm not sure what's going on with this boat. It runs great, with the exception of still maxing out at about 6500 rpms. Raves and carbs have been gone through again and good. Compression is great. I put 1 step colder plugs in to see how plug test went with them. No problems running them. I noticed the heat sensor "sticker" on the SBT engine is red. I think it's been that way for a couple of weeks. This obviously means engine got hotter than it's supposed to at one time or another or still is. I got no beeps at all. Seeing this sticker I decided to test sensor. I stuck a paper clip into the wire and grounded it to the neg battery post and head and didn't get a beep. I tried testing sensor as I read how to do on here and not sure if it's working or I'm doing it wrong.

So that leaves me with a couple of issues to be addressed.
Is the sensor working or not or is it in the wire which leads me to where to check next?
The engine obviously got hot. Now that sticker turning red usually means a cooling issue, correct? I have great water flow through the engine and I am always looking at the back of the boat for water flowing through the "tell-tale".

Any ideas?
Thanks

6500rpms.....non-slotted raves can contribute. water regulator(mounted on muffler), could be goin south. Whats ur compression?

When sbt sticks those stickers on, arent they blue? so they can turn red?

They are the newer slotted raves. The compression is 160+ on both cylinders. The stickers are usually a greenish color when new. I took the water reg apart and seems to be fine. I covered one hole with my finger and blew air with my mouth through the other and bellows moved with the pressure. Water is flowing nicely out the rear of the boat so I'm a tad confused on the color change.

pull the waterline off the pipe, thats from the regulator, hang it ouside boat, and rip ur around. While increasing rpms, the water from the line, should decrease, if not, regulator bad/goin bad

I'll give that a shot but shouldn't the water coming out of the tell-tale be confirmation that everything is ok?
