Hi all!
I recently became the owner of a 2002 (I believe) GTX rfi. The exterior is in fair shape, but I’m not so sure about the mechanicals. There’s oil everywhere inside and I found this piece of metal in the bottom.

The motor does have an SBT sticker on it. So, maybe the metal piece is from the previous power plant. Does anyone know what it is or where I could look on the engine to verify where it came from?

Thanks!
Brooks

oof.. that's ugly. Take off the pto cover and look right here.. see if there's a giant hole. if so, you need new casesCapture.JPG

I’m assuming this is where the chunk came from? Would that be my counter balance shaft? I’m assuming it’s game-over for this engine.

Typically i'm not an SBT basher, but I've been seeing an increase in their bearing failures over the past year or so, enough that I'll not buy things with bearings from them.
I rebuild my own (and sell as well) the counterbalance shafts with Nachi bearings
and if you decide to rebuild i've got a few RFI cases as well
