Hey out there! Thought I should share this with you. I recently purchased a 93 GTX with no spark. After tracking the problem down to the MPEM I nearly went into "SHOCK" when I found out what these things are fetching! I have a friend with a CB radio repair shop so I talked to him about trying to fix this one. Nothing to lose right???? I carefully cut the bottom off the unit and completely peeled the black epoxy away. He buffed up the circuit board and under a magnifying glass he could see that many of the solder joints were cracked. He re-soldered the whole board and then it was time for a test. Wow!! That 580 barked to life without hesitation. Everything seems to work OK so I covered the board back up with a layer of hot glue and now I'm waiting for spring!!!......Thanks Tedd!!!.......Is it April yet???.......BRANT

Good job. Normally, they don't have probs with cold solder joints. Glad that worked for you.
