What just happened?

I finally got my 1996GSX to run GREAT! I took my granddaughter out for a ride yesterday and she accidentally pulled the tether off the post. The ski started right up. One minute later, she did it again. This time my ski wouldn't start. (It ALWAYS starts when warm). I tried starting about 10 times with no success, THEN, all of a sudden my start/stop switch stopped working. I found another boat on the water and he towed me back to shore (which took about 30 minutes). After he left I put the key in the post hoping for a miracle, and got one. The ski started right up. I drove it around for a while and it ran perfectly. WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

Do you get the two beeps everytime you install the lanyard?

I haven't had 2 beeps in 15 years. Also same goes for display panel which is toast, but when she decides to run, she runs like a bat out of **ll.

I would replace the beeper.
It will help diagnose and is your overheating alarm.

My issue has nothing to to with overheating. You must be confusing me with another thread. Thanks anyway.

No confusion.
The beeper will tell you if it is recognizing they lanyard, if the post loses connection with the lanyard which would cause your symptoms.
It is also the alarm for overheating so good and helpful to have a working beeper.

No, it is under the handlebar pad.
