Looking for a bit of advice on repairing some hull damage. When researching repairs I never came across anyone fixing damage quite like this, basically a uniform 0.1" layer of fiberglass/gelcoat came off and all the glass underneath seems to be perfectly fine. This side of the ski was previously repaired about 10 years ago, but best I remember (wasn't mine at the time) it was just the vertical side and up into the yellow, I assume the bit of off-colored fiberglass was apart of that repair.
Pretty much just looking for a sanity check as to if this is a good plan or not:
Remove all loose fiberglass and sand edges back to a taper
Lay chopped fiberglass mat down with West Systems 105 to build up about .08"
Gelcoat the top.
My alternative (lazy way) plan was to just slather on a gallon of bondo glass and call it a day, but I'm still trying to decide how much I'd regret that in the long run.
