what is fogging the engine? is it when you spray anti corrosion lube into air filters w/ engines running? Also is bombarbier XP-S anti corrosion spray good for upkeep and protection?
i am also seeking out any others suggestions/tips for maintenance on a 2 stroke speedster.
thanks.

Fogging the engine is done when you put up your boat for winter. Since you live in Florida, I doubt you would use it unless you put your boat in storage for several months. Not much maint. required on a 2 stroke engine.

If you don't have one, download a service manual and owners manual for your boat, they're available on this forum if you have a premium membership.

What year is your Speedster?

I fog my engines after every use and make sure to blow the excess water out at the ramp... :)

These motors have water sitting in the water box and pipe, that extra humidity gets into the cylinders and lower end causing rust..

Only takes a few seconds to fog them and should be part of you're regular maintenance, really helps prolong engine life, along with checking all hoses/bolts,etc,etc.....

I'm not sure I agree. The very nature of a 2 stroke engine will leave a trace of oil in moving parts and exhaust of the engine. Fogging the engine after each use won't hurt (except spark plugs), but I don't see how it would help either.

I use my ski usually 2 times a week, and leave it in the water a lot, if you don't use your boat very often it could be of some benefit to fog it.

maintenance

thanks dudes.... it is a 96' speedster by the way. i did read that it should be included in regular maintenance along w/ removing plugs and giving a shot to the cylinders as well.

Also, i noticed that the manual says that the hose connections for flushing the engines are down by the jets but last weekend i used the connections that were up top (where the storage compartment is). does it matter which connections i use? are there even connections down by jets if they are up top? i cant go look b/c the boat is 2hrs down the road.

Also also, is there a way to flush bilge pump? i am running in brackish water and would like to give it a good flush also.

Let it sit for a week and remove the head...You'll have rust.

I only add it to the cylinders for long storage periods, just start it, rev it up to blow the water out of each engine, then I give it real good squirt like 5 secs, there's a small hole in the airbox for the straw, then kill the engine...
