ok so we go to the lake and were about 2.5 to 3 hours in and i start "showing off" in the water while i give the kids a break.

then after a quick 180 my low oil light turns on :ack:, i shut engines and check oil level but i am at half. being the cautious person i am ,i have an extra gallon. pour iy in turn it on light flickers and turns off.

i think ok , then after a while back on flickering. then i turn engines off and check again and everything seems o.k.

i keep using it for about 2 more hours and it flickers on and off, i bring it home and clean and flush it and everything seems fine ,

what is going on?

thanks in advance for replies

Float.....

That light is for the level only. It has nothing to do with any kind of oil pressure or the like. Bouncing it around will cause it to make the connection and show you have low oil level.

If it becomes a real pain, just un-plug it. You know, from running it, you can run through about 4 tanks of gas (2 for twin engine) before the tank runs out. So, just keep that in mind and check the level often.

Those are estimates based on running my single engine 787 and the Sportster 1800..............

thanks snipe! that is good info.
it seemed odd everything sounded and rode well , even with light flickering.
i was almost waitning for a dreadful "bang" from the engine.

i know , it didnt happen but i was alsmost expecting it . since i had a light flickering and i kept ridin her hard!

Mine did this earl this season when we were on a wind-chopped lake, scared the bejeezus out of me. Running maybe 8 hours into a new motor and all of a sudden, warning lights.

It was just from the boat being tossed around, and as long as i kept if from jostling around, the light stayed off.

yeah that happens to me when i get about a half tank of oil, it scared the crap out of me the first time, but i figured it was oil sloshing around just like the gas gauge moves around too.

i feel good knowing i was not the only one!

i just didnt know it was for low oil in tank at the time!:dupe:
