Looking at 96 GTI

Any opinions. Currently have 95 spx. Tippy with 2 people. Wondering if 96 gti would be much more stable and have as second ski. Thanks!

My neighbor has a yellow 96 GTi. They love it. it's a 3 seater and they take 2 of the kids on it with one adult....very stable , good speed for a 717. Easier to work on than the 787.

A GTX like mine is also very stable with a bigger gas tank and the 787 motor.

I 2nd that and sure Lou would be a third. I have a 96 gti and 95 XP
Like sbd mention the gti has the 717 and gtx the 787. Both hull drive like a Buick.

But much more stable than the xp..or spx, correct? Is it more stable even at idle?

I can stand on the side of my GTX and it won't tip over. 10 feet long and 575 lbs.

The 96GTI is a great all around ski, it's got the old hull style an elongated X4 hull, so I think it's more fun to ride then the newer Vee hull designs. It's a cruiser you can ride all day and not be tired, it's very stable, I've had mine for several years and have never even come close to tipping it, and it does have a 12 gal. fuel tank, same as the GTX. It's not the most exciting ski on the lake, I call mine the "Buick", but for reliability, stability you can't beat it. My wife loves this ski, in fact it's hard to get it away from her.

I believe in 1996 only the GTX and the GSX had the 15 gal tank, the HX had 7 gallons and all the rest are 12 gallons. My neighbor had his GTi - 12 gal tank replaced under a recall. My 15 gal wasn't affective by the recall.

SDB I think you got me on this one, you've been reading the Clymer's manual again. I was at the lake today, gas at the marina was 4.25 so it will cost you $12.75 more to fill a 96GTX than a 96GTI. The two ski's have different hull designs.

Does your marina sell ethanol free gas at that price?

the xp,sp,spi, spx had a 9 gallon as well
