Just thought I would share a great craigslist find I drug home today. A 1996 XP that has spent most of its life in a garage under cover. Came with new OEM cover, life jackets, and some other accessories. Biggest thing I'm happy with is obviously condition though!

I did have one question on it, the one key most times seems to just give one beep and light up the gauge, but will work every so often. I've tried a new AGM battery and still has this problem intermittently. Any ideas? It is an aftermarket key.

Luckily I have 2 other XPs i bought as resto projects in the spring so I may start swapping parts soon (both good mpems). It does still have gray tempo lines unfortunatley so I guess that and carb kits are the first project after the key issue.

great snag, that's dam purty ....

after being away from the x4 for almost 2 years now i'm getting the itch to grab one for some fun time, i'm a little jealous.

That one is even cleaner than mine.

I picked it up abut 3 years ago for $1300. The battery was dead, and the trailer hub was rotten. That's why it wasn't getting used. But it was under a cover, in the garage... so it was very clean.

I'm actually afraid I'll just baby it too much to have fun, so need to finish one of the project skis to beat around.

You guys both have great looking x-4s though!!

These machines were made to be abused. Lol anything less would be a disservice to the x4

96 XP800!
Keep the 2 strokes alive!

Saw this and linked to our cl thread! Amazing you got him down from the 2500 list price!! Where do you ride at around Columbus?? I'm usually at alum creek

This was actually a different ski in Zanesville, the other guy wants crazy money. It is pretty crazy two xps in such great condition were on cbus CL at the same though.

Typically I ride at deer creek, sometimes at Alum. Generally we have the boat at alum though so it's kind of a hassle to tow both. How about yourself?

Oh OK gotcha, yea that one is insanely expensive... Yours looks just as clean though!
I'm usually at alum, how is deer Creek, I was thinking that has a 10 house limit on it...

A lot smaller than alum but typically much less crowded. It is unlimited hp. If I go weekdays I'm typically one of maybe three boats.

The VTS gauge looks like it's losing the white paint inside the gauge unfortunately.

Huh, I'll have to try to get to deer creek then. Those gauges look nice, my needles are no longer orange, I wish I could just open them up and paint them. Both are functioning too...

Yeah its pretty nice, very heavy sheriff presence but they don't usually hassle you. We'll have to meet up some time.

What is stock compression on the 787? My 2 project x4s are both at 150psi and I thought that was great. This one is at about 167psi per hole.

Just got finished rebuilding carbs and replacing all fuel lines. I installed a new SBT fuel valve and when installing the 3rd and last hose the nipple on the valve actually pushed in almost all the way. I was pretty aggrevated and had to clean and reuse the old one. I can easily move the nipple in and out of the valve about 1/2 inch.

I think I'll just ask for a refund as I don't think I 'd trust the quality/longevity of a replacement. Anyone have similar issues?

Yes I have a pile of brand new bad SBT valves. They were great "just like OEM" I touted but they ran out and put them on back order. When this latest batch hit it was just crap. I didn't buy mine directly from them but I still want to write them and send these back for working ones someday. I have to recommend plastic aftermarket or OEM now.

Ah thanks Matt. Sad to hear quality control is so bad on the recent batch. I'm sure some other Chinese manufacturer outbid whoever made them before.
