Jet pump problem

Today I was idling downstream enjoying the scenery and then all of a sudden the motor started making loud noise and the jet stopped pumping. I looked at the shaft and it turns but nothing seems to be happening with the jet pump. Motor starts up but makes a lot of noise. The seadoo is still in the water as I don't have the trailer with me. Any ideas ?

Sounds like you might have sucked something up inside the jet pump, or your drive shaft or PTO splines gave out.

Bottom line, ski has to come out of the water to investigate further. Try to beg/borrow a trailer. Whereabouts are you in Van? I have some connections out there.

Did some more looking. It seems like the drive shaft is slipping. I guess that's what all the noise is. What is the worst ? To replace the drive shaft or pto splines ?

I have a trailer, no tow vehicle ..... Problem is finding someone to tow on a long weekend.

Update

I looked at the service manual and it shows a rubber bumper stop on each end of the driveshaft.
I have the driveshaft out and it didn't have a rubber bumper stop on either end. The spline shaft seems ok.

Update:
I replaced the rubber driveshaft bumpers and the bumper at the PTO lasted less than a minute and the driveshaft started slipping again.

I did a search and some people have made a bumper from metal.
I made one from stainless steel and have had success. The seadoo is running as good as it has ever ran.

Any thoughts about using a metal bumper ?
