I wash down with SaltAway after every other trip and rinse down after every single trip. I live where I ride in backish water 75% and in the Gulf 25% of the time. I'm meticulous about my maintenance, yet this is what I find.
I don't think it matters how meticulous you are, salt water is about one step away from acid. The air in coastal areas carries salt. Thatis why if I look at used machines I always ask if it has ever been in salt water.
Salt water very hard on all skis it gets in places you would not imagine . obviously you might need to have a saltwater maintenance expert critique your maintenance schedule . Because I have guys in this forum tell me they have good luck keeping their skis in excellent condition. In saltwater . I do know some use a solvent called fluid film very often and constantly are spraying it on there engine before and after each ride.
My Ski is a 2016. I'm just disappointed that corrosion has already started on this cap. A little on the exhaust is very normal here from what others have told me.
Over this winter, I'll be doing something about that cap.
I kinda like the ride in the avatar, maybe I would be willing to trade my collection of SeaDoos for it ... straight across or maybe a little additional cash tossed in?
Well Hawk I live in Minnesota and my oil cap looks a lot better than yours but I bet the bottom of my car doesn't and my ski is already in the garage for the winter.
